'Le Petit Lion'
is owned and run by Mark and Stephanie Reed with the help of their son James. Bentley and Luna the family dogs are also in the photo and next to us is our resident chocolate coloured donkey called 'Sultan' or 'Sulty' he can't wait to meet you, he loves a lot of attention he's looking forward to having a new companion in the next few weeks an eight month old lavender coloured donkey called 'Angelo' as very sadly Sulty's other companion a Percheron Pony passed away and you may or may not know that donkeys do not like to be alone and in extreme circumstances can die of a broken heart. We're also going to be having a couple of Angora Goats added to our family over the next couple of weeks. We shall soon have a small menagerie of animals to keep the children and the adults happy to come and see. As soon as we have some photo's of our new additions, we shall post them onto our website for you to see.
Here are the Angora Goats, they've arrived and so gentle, the children will love petting them! we have yet to name them, so if you have got any ideas, please email them to us.
we are situated on the borders of the South Charante and the North Dordogne, we are nestled amongst rolling hills of sunflowers, wheat and maize.
'Overwhelming Comments'
We are absolutely stunned by the continuous overwhelming comments from our customers who have enjoyed their stay in our calm and tranquil campsite with our 'clean' facilities, come and experience their stays at our beautiful and peaceful site.
We are in a rural area amongst some very pretty villages as well as the larger towns of Angouleme, Riberac and Brantome and of course markets every day of the week. Situated next to the site is the Tourbieres, a collection of lakes with fishing, boating, nature trails, museum and restaraunt. Great for an evening stroll and admire the wildlife including some rare butterflies that appear in July and August.
We have our own snack bar on site with babyfoot (table football), pool table and ping pong table, so you can enjoy a snack, drink and a chat with other guests from all over europe while the children are happily playing on the swings or other activities, in fact the family below were our first spanish/catalonian guests on their way through to Brittany.

Le Petit Lion offers a wide choice of accommodation, Camping, Gites, Chalets and soon Bed & Breakfast, the perfect place for a fun filled or relaxing holiday.
We also have our own produce, fee range eggs. Children are more than welcome to come and see the chickens. We use the eggs in our speciality quiches, omelettes and scrambled egg or purchase from us. We also have our own walnut trees, hazelnut trees, cherry trees and apple trees, depending on the time of your visit these are also available to our customers. As well as any garden produce, again depending on the season and quantity. We hope to increase our livestock perhaps with a couple of sheep, so watch this space!
The village Villebois-Lavalette, has a comprehensive supermarket, post office, market on Saturday mornings and Wednesday mornings under the ancient covered market square, sample a glass of the local Charante speciality, Pineau and absorb the french culture at restaurants and coffee bars.
Champagne et Fontaine is a small village, not very far from us, the village has an excellent small self-service grocers shop, boulangerie, post office and bar. You can also have a walk on the randonee route see the map below.
